Connectors (Event-Level)

This Connectors page is where Event Builders and Administrators can submit event-level background jobs to be run, such as importing leads/contacts into an event as registrations.

What are Jobs?

Each "job" is a pre-defined program developed using the Certain API to connect to a target application, such as Marketo or Eloqua. A job runs in the background as a batch job, drawing data from that application into Certain, and/or sending data from Certain to that application.

There are two PDF documents describing and illustrating this.
Click one of these links to open the one applicable to your organization, depending on whether you use Marketo or Eloqua (or right-click to download or print):

Market -> Certain -> Marketo

See list of Marketo jobs below.

See list of Eloqua jobs below.

A job which is an update to Certain includes the definition of the extraction from the target application, the mapping of fields in the target application to equivalent fields in Certain, the logic involved, and adding or updating data in Certain.

Vice versa, a job which is an update of the target application from Certain, still includes field mappings and logic, and pushes data to the other application.

See the jobs listed below for examples of both types.

The field mappings are set up for your account by your system administrator in Account Settings > Implementation > Plugins.

Recurring Jobs

When you submit a job, you choose whether to do so just the once, or on a recurring basis. If the latter, you have a lot of flexibility about when and at what frequency the job runs. For example, you might run an Import job once several months before an event in order to send out invitations to those people; and you might run outbound jobs from Certain to the target application regularly, starting after registration begins and ending after the event is over. (See Schedule Recurring Job below.)

Account-Level and Event-Level Jobs

There are two Connectors pages in Certain. This one, under Plan > Configure in an event, is for Event Builders and Administrators to run jobs at the event level, such as importing leads/contacts into an event as registrations.

The other one is at the account level, Account Settings >  Implementation > Connectors, for Administrators to run account-level jobs, such as importing leads/contacts into the account as profiles, or even to submit an event-level background job to run in a specific event in the same account.

Plugin Configuration

Note: For you to be able to submit any jobs, an Administrator must have set up the relevant plugin for Marketo or Eloqua on Account Settings > Implementation > Third-Party Plugins, with details of your organization's unique connection and the field mappings

List of Jobs

When you first arrive at the Connectors page, you see a list of jobs, including ones that are running, ended or scheduled to run.

To run a new job, click New Event Job, which opens the New Job Configuration section described below.

To remove any Ended jobs from the list, click Clear All Jobs.

The list of jobs shows the following for each one:

Marketo and Eloqua Jobs

Certain includes some pre-built jobs for integration with the Marketo and Eloqua marketing platforms. These are provided as working examples for more advanced integrations. See Marketo Jobs and Eloqua Jobs below.
